I'm not early but not late either... Some will say I'm right on point. It seems to me that tradition has it that we eat it throughout the month of January and this is precisely where it can be useful to know a good recipe to make it yourself as soon as you want it the rest of the year 
My fave is clearly the apple one or with a zest of lemon cuz I've eaten way TOO MUCH of the classic one with just almond paste on its own.
